After many years of dedicated training John Byrne was called up for the Joey’s soccer team. John came on as an impact sub [[Show as slideshow]] in today’s big game against Holy Spirit Ballymun and played a big part in getting Joey’s back on level terms in a game which ended 1 – 1.

Lark In The Park!

Fairview Park has been restored to its pre-tunnel glory and this is being celebrated with a “Lark in the Park.”

The Lark in the Park, Fairview Dublin

Bring the whole family to Fairview Park on May 26th 2012 (2pm-5pm), for a afternoon of fun, music, and food. The Dublin City Council and Fairview Marino Business Association is sponsoring “The Lark in the Park“. This will be a day to celebrate the Fairview and Marino area and the return of the Bandstand to Fairview Park. There will be live music on the day, Face Painting, Food stands from local businesses, bouncy castles, and much more.

Coastcare Week

The boys in Joey’s certainly played their part in Coastcare Week. Mr. McDonald’s lads went to Dollymount and got stuck into cleaning up the beach and dunes as part of An Taisce’s ‘Coastcare Week’. May Days in the Garden!

The weather is stilll most unseasonable but that didn’t prevent Ms. McBride’s Gardening Club taking to the Joey’s garden to plant potatoes, tomatoes, onions and just for a bit of Summer colour, some wild flowers. The garden already looks fantastic and thanks to the lads, under the watchful eye of Bernadette, it will soon look even better.

Joey’s Launch the Leinster Championship.

It may have been a day off but that didn’t stop the Joey’s hurlers answering the call from the G.A.A. to go to Croke Park and launch the Leinster Championship. Stars like Dublin Captain Johnny McCaffrey and Wexford full-back Keith Rossiter got a chance to rub shoulders with the stars of tomorrow from Joey’s! The Joey’s lads played an exhibition game and were most impressive. They then posed – and I mean posed! – for photographs with the magnificent Bob O’Keeffe Cup and had a chance to chat with the players. I don’t know if the Wexford number 3 was all that happy when Eoin McNeill asked why Wexford were brutal!

Anyway, a great day out for the lads on their day off!
